Ingrid is a psychologist who holds a Bachelor of Psychological Science (University of Adelaide), Honours in Psychological Science (Bond University), and a Master of Professional Psychology (Monash University).
Ingrid has worked with teenagers and adults from various backgrounds in the community, forensic settings, and private practice, focusing on those who exhibit complex and challenging behaviours. Her extensive overseas travel and volunteer work with Syrian refugees in Türkiye have also provided her with experience interacting with diverse groups of people. In addition to individual therapy, Ingrid has experience facilitating group therapy for substance abuse, anger management, and healthy relationships and conducting ADHD and cognitive assessments.
In therapy, Ingrid creates an environment that is compassionate, animated, and genuine. Her approach is trauma-informed and grounded in the belief that everyone has the capacity to make changes and grow. She enjoys building long-lasting and meaningful connections with clients, knowing that this can be a catalyst for a successful therapy experience. Her clients have described Ingrid as approachable, empathetic, and caring.
Ingrid prioritises assessing individuals thoroughly to tailor a treatment plan based on their needs. She is particularly interested in understanding difficulties within the context of the client’s childhood experiences. She integrates psychodynamic concepts such as unconscious processes and early attachments to help clients gain insight into their underlying dynamics and help reshape dysfunctional beliefs holding them back.
Ingrid incorporates different therapeutic modalities into her practice, drawing from her training in Schema Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Trauma-focused therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, attachment-based models, and Mindfulness-based treatments. Additionally, Ingrid is working towards accreditation as an EMDR therapist, constantly seeking opportunities to expand her knowledge and skills using evidence-based approaches.
