Catherine is a psychologist with provisional registration. She holds a master’s in professional psychology from Monash University, having previously completed her degree in biomedicine at the University of Melbourne. As such, Catherine is interested in holistic approaches to addressing mental health challenges and well-being. This involves making a considered effort to understand a client’s bio-psycho-social model when working with them to provide tailored and comprehensive care.
Catherine has a particular interest and experience in addressing childhood anxiety, which ranges from mild to severe cases, as well as difficulties with emotional regulation, depression, and low self-esteem.
In her therapeutic approach, Catherine uses a strength-based approach alongside evidence-based strategies such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, adjusting her technique to meet the needs of her clients. Catherine is passionate about working with children; she can connect with them through play-based approaches and expressive modalities to incorporate evidence-based strategies for a seamless approach to working with children.
Catherine believes in the significance of working within family systems and values the support she provides to families. She collaborates with parents, involves them in caring for their child, and empowers them to strengthen the family unit.
Catherine has an Egyptian background and understands the differences in norms and practices across cultures. Because of this, she can work culturally sensitively with diverse clients.
